JUST IN: Another Celtics forward completes move to Thunder after buyout

Former Celtics forward Mike Muscala has signed with the Thunder for the rest of the season, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Muscala began the season with the Wizards before being traded to the Pistons before the deadline. After agreeing to a buyout with Detroit, Muscala was a free agent and free to sign with a contender, which is how he landed with the Thunder.

Muscala is well familiar with Oklahoma City, having spent time there between 2019 and 23. He was traded to the C’s for a draft pick at the 2023 deadline, and he spent the rest of the season in Boston. Muscala was involved in the Kristaps Porzingis trade with the Wizards last summer. Now he’s back with the Thunder, who are now 41-18 and competing for the top spot in the West.

While the Thunder have a lot going for them, they were able to recruit a veteran big man, Muscala. It doesn’t hurt that he is familiar with the company. Muscala has averaging 3.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in 37 games for Washington and Detroit this year. While this has been a difficult shooting season, he is a career 37.6% 3-point shooter who can spread the court.
