Despite shooting 0-for-4 from deep in postseason competition on Saturday night, future Duke basketball wing Kon Knueppel scored a game-high 31 points. In doing so, the 6-foot-5, 205-pound five-star guided Wisconsin Lutheran, which is 26-0 this season, to an 82-49 home victory over Pius XI Catholic and the school’s fourth consecutive regional championship.

Knueppel, who is ranked No. 16 overall on the 247Sports 2024 Composite as the third-highest-ranked member of second-year Blue Devil head coach Jon Scheyer’s vaunted five-deep recruiting haul, went 14-for-23 from the field and 3-for-3 from the charity stripe.

Knueppel had eight rebounds, six of which were offensive, two assists, three steals, one block, and one turnover in his game-high 31 minutes.

According to Wisconsin Lutheran’s press release, 11 of the smooth bucket-getter’s 21 points in the second half came during a stunning four-minute stretch midway through the third quarter that gave the Falcons a 30-point lead, “punctuated by a thunderous one-handed jam in traffic.”

The 18-year-old has been in all 26 Wisconsin Lutheran games this season, averaging 26.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.2 blocks while shooting 59.5 percent from the field, 39.4 percent from three, and 84.7 percent from the free throw line.

Kon Knueppel and the Falcons will meet Pius XI Catholic in the WIAA Sectional Semifinals at Wilmot Union High School on Thursday night.
