The Pistons were down 16 points to the Mavericks entering the fourth quarter. That told a repeated story from the 2023-24 NBA season, in which the young Pistons fought to compete at the bottom of the Eastern Conference rankings.

The nameless spectator used Weaver as a verbal punching bag for Detroit’s lack of performance at the time, as well as throughout the entire season.

Tensions erupted into an expletive-laced shouting match between the two, which security had to quell.

According to TMZ Sports, a close audience member said that the two had a history of arguing before to Saturday’s altercation.

This time, the fan confronted Weaver and criticized him for his poor work performance. This followed Jalen Duren’s ejection midway through the fourth for clobbering Daniel Gafford and initiating a fight with P.J. Washington.

According to ClutchPoints, another attendee took video of the front office head jawing with him and stating, “You’re lucky I don’t beat your *ss.”

The fan looked perplexed by Weaver’s directness. It didn’t stop the Pistons executive from having security remove him from the Little Caesars Arena.

Many felt that the troll job was somewhat justified, given the Pistons’ 70-258 record during Weaver’s four-year tenure.

This year, there have been numerous altercations in the NBA. Usually between players, this season has also witnessed shoving battles between players and coaches, as well as a serious dispute involving the leadership of a company.

So far, neither the NBA nor the Pistons have announced a fine or ban for Weaver.
