Thunder rookie Cason Wallace issues statement on career night and sends a message amid Grizzlies interest

The Oklahoma City Thunder hosted a struggling Memphis Grizzlies club on Sunday night, and the game ended in a massacre for them.

With four players scoring 14 or more points and Oklahoma City shooting 52.7 percent from the field and 44.7 percent from distance while holding Taylor Jenkins’ team to a mere 41.0 percent, the Thunder cruised to a commanding 124-93 victory, giving them a one-game lead over the Minnesota Timberwolves for the top spot out west.

Though these types of routes have typically been spearheaded by one of the team’s major centerpieces in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, or Jalen Williams, many fans were pleased to see Cason Wallace lead the charge for Mark Daigneault’s burgeoning club.

From his inside-out offensive game, in which he converted nine of his 14 field goal attempts (four of six from distance), to his strong defensive efforts, the youngster delivered a career performance that contributed significantly to OKC’s blowout victory.

Following the game, Wallace spoke with Bally Sports’ Nick Gallo about his incredible performance, explaining his emotions about reaching the milestone and thanking his teammates for their support along the road.
