BREAKING NEWS: Ravens Star Have Completed Move to Chiefs

Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, a former Baltimore Ravens and Arizona Cardinals receiver, is set to sign a one-year contract worth up to $11 million with the Kansas City Chiefs, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Thursday.

The deal offers quarterback Patrick Mahomes the wide receiver improvement that the franchise has been looking for since the Super Bowl.

Last month, the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers for their second consecutive Lombardi Trophy, despite having one of the NFL’s least effective wide receiver units. Rookie Rashee Rice emerged as a useful passing option, but the Chiefs were generally forced to rely on journeymen and stopgaps as they pursued another championship.

Brown might be an ideal complement to Rice in a new-look offense that includes newly acquired tight end Irv Smith Jr. and star tight end Travis Kelce.

Brown said on Instagram on Thursday night, “Blessed Beyond Measures…Excited To Be A Part Of ChiefsKingdom,” beside a photo of himself in a Chiefs uniform.

Brown, who was traded to the Cardinals by the Ravens in 2022, did not receive the long-term contract he sought heading into the 2023 season and was sidelined by a heel ailment last season.

Injuries have recently become a concern for Brown, who has not played a full season since 2020.

Brown, who turns 27 on June 4, concluded 2023 with 574 yards in 14 games, a career low. He recorded 51 catches and four touchdowns on 101 targets, his third consecutive year with triple-digit targets. However, he produced career lows in yards per target (5.68) and yards after catch (164).

The Ravens selected him 25th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. He has made 313 career receptions for 3,644 yards and 28 touchdowns. His only 1,000-yard season came in 2021, when he caught 91 catches for 1,008 yards with Baltimore.
