Just In: Another Chiefs veteran have sealed move to Tennessee Titans

ESPN and NFL.com reported Friday night that cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, a starter on the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl-winning teams the previous two seasons, is joining the Tennessee Titans. The Titans are allegedly handing the Chiefs a third-round pick in 2025, with the clubs swapping seventh-round picks in 2024. The deal came together when Kansas City slapped the nonexclusive franchise tag on Sneed this month, just days after giving him permission to find another team willing to trade for his services.

According to the two reports, Sneed will earn a new deal from Tennessee. According to ESPN, he will end up with one of the most lucrative contracts for a cornerback. Sneed, 27, is likely to become the Titans’ second cornerback in the offseason, following former Cincinnati Bengal Chidobe Awuzie, who signed a three-year contract earlier this month. Sneed was picked in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL draft out of Louisiana Tech, and he appeared in 57 regular-season games for the Chiefs, including 54 starts.

Throughout his tenure, he started all 13 postseason games for the team, including three Super Bowl appearances. Sneed started 16 games in 2023, recording 78 tackles, two interceptions, 14 passes defensed, and one fumble recovery. He also had 17 tackles and three passes defensed in the playoffs, including three tackles and one pass defensed in Kansas City’s 25-22 victory against the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl last month. His career stats include 303 tackles, 10 interceptions, 6.5 sacks, 40 passes defensed, four forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.
