Riley Duran signs a two-year, entry-level deal with the Boston Bruins
The Boston Bruins have signed forward Riley Duran to a two-year, entry-level contract that will start in the 2024–25 campaign, general manager Don Sweeney announced on Sunday. CapFriendly reports that the contract’s $867,500 cap impact is scheduled to occur.

On an amateur tryout contract (ATO), Duran will report to the Providence Bruins, the Bruins’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate.

The Woburn, Massachusetts native played in the NCAA with the Providence College Friars in 2023–24, tallying 16 points from 35 games with nine goals and seven assists. Duran, who spent his third season with the Friars, finished with a 55-point total (27 goals and 28 assists) in 102 NCAA games.

The Bruins originally selected Duran in the 2020 NHL Draft with the 182nd overall pick. Duran played for Lawrence Academy during that season, when he led the club with 22 goals and 44 points in 27 contests. The 6-foot-2, 181-pound forward chose to spend his gap year before playing at Providence by choosing to play for the Youngstown Phantoms in the United States Hockey League (USHL). Duran scored eight goals, provided eleven assists, and racked up 32 penalty minutes in 47 games while with the Phantoms.

The Halifax Mooseheads selected Duran in the 2018 Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) American Draft; however, Duran chose to play collegiate hockey instead. At the IIHF World Juniors in 2021–22, Duran played for the United States. The squad was strong and included players who went on to play in the NHL, including Brock Faber of Minnesota, Luke Hughes of New Jersey, Matt Coronato of Calgary, Matthew Knies of Toronto, and Thomas Bordeleau of San Jose. In five games, Duran scored two goals and provided three assists for a total of five points.

Providence has a 36-18-4-3 record, 79 points through 61 games, and is ranked second in the Atlantic Division. Duran ought to earn some playing time with the Bruins with eleven games left in the regular season.
