The New Orleans Saints have kept a low profile this offseason, with Chase Young’s signing being the most prominent move.

However, rumors circulate about potential dramatic actions on the horizon. One such report claims that Marshon Lattimore could be traded, while another suggests that the Saints could add a seasoned veteran to their receiving corps.

Recently, the Saints were tied to conversations about the acquisition of a former highly regarded quarterback.

Cody Benjamin wrote a recent CBS Sports post that evaluated numerous trade rumors from throughout the NFL landscape. Among the candidates under consideration was New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson, with Benjamin naming New Orleans as one of three prospective suitors for the rookie signal-caller.

Recognizing Wilson’s lukewarm market, Benjamin recommended that “at just 24 with dual-threat traits, Wilson could be a low-risk reclamation project for a contender.”

Recent NFL trades, like Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles, and Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars, serve as examples of such revolutionary deals.

The chance of Zach Wilson wearing the black and gold of the New Orleans Saints looms large, but other clubs such as the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Rams have also been mentioned as possible destinations.

It looks highly unlikely that the 2021 No. 2 overall draft pick will stay with the Jets, where he started 33 of 34 games and totaled 6,293 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions.

While Derek Carr is the Saints’ established starter, their quarterback depth remains a source of concern. Nathan Peterman’s latest signing adds depth, although his job may be more of an extension of the coaching staff.

Meanwhile, Jake Haener’s prospective impact is questionable. Bringing Wilson into the picture could provide depth, but the move may not dramatically impact the Saints’ quarterback situation.
