BREAKING: Kansas State Lands Massive Commitment From Elite 5-Star Safety Prospect

Kansas State football continued building momentum on the recruiting trail by securing another commitment for its 2027 class, adding a talented defensive back from Texas. Three-star safety Bryson Dossett announced on Friday, May 22, that he has committed to the Wildcats, giving head coach Chris Klieman and his staff another important addition to their future roster plans.

Dossett, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound prospect from Fort Bend Ridge Point High School in Missouri City, Texas, chose Kansas State over several notable programs from across the country. Among the schools that extended scholarship offers to him were Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Houston, North Carolina, Illinois, and several others, highlighting just how competitive his recruitment had become over the past year.

Kansas State had been recruiting Dossett for quite some time. The Wildcats originally offered him a scholarship in June 2025, and the relationship between the coaching staff and the Texas standout steadily grew stronger from there. Earlier this month, Dossett made an official visit to Manhattan, which appears to have played a major role in solidifying his decision. He also took visits to Oklahoma State and Duke during the recruiting process before ultimately deciding that Kansas State was the right fit for him both athletically and personally.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Dossett is currently considered the No. 113 safety prospect nationally in the 2027 recruiting cycle. While he may still have room to rise in the rankings over the next year, recruiting analysts already view him as a promising defensive player with athletic upside and versatility in the secondary.

In addition to football, Dossett also competes in track and field, where he focuses primarily on sprinting events. His background in track is viewed as a positive sign for his speed and explosiveness, traits that could translate well to the defensive side of the ball at the collegiate level. Kansas State’s coaching staff has consistently targeted multi-sport athletes during recruiting, valuing the athletic development and competitiveness those players often bring to the program.

On the football field, Dossett put together a productive junior season for Ridge Point High School. He recorded 23 tackles, one interception, and a forced fumble while helping anchor his team’s defense. His ability to cover ground quickly and make plays in the secondary caught the attention of multiple Power Four programs during his recruitment.

Football runs deep in Dossett’s family as well. His older brother, Mason Dossett, currently plays safety at LSU and is listed as a redshirt sophomore with the Tigers. Their father, Martin Dossett, also has an impressive football background. Martin played wide receiver at Baylor before spending two seasons in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers. That strong football lineage has clearly helped shape Bryson’s development and understanding of the game at a young age.

Before Dossett’s commitment, Kansas State’s 2027 recruiting class was ranked No. 32 nationally by the 247Sports Composite rankings, which also placed the Wildcats third among Big 12 programs. His addition gives the Wildcats their 11th high school commitment in the class and further strengthens what is already shaping up to be one of the better recruiting groups in the conference.

As Kansas State continues building for the future, adding talented prospects like Dossett demonstrates the program’s growing ability to compete for recruits against nationally recognized schools.
