The Seattle Mariners received a boost to their pitching staff just hours before Tuesday night’s matchup against the Athletics. As Seattle prepares for the series opener scheduled for 9:40 p.m. EST, the organization announced the return of an important bullpen arm who had recently been sidelined due to injury.
Left-handed reliever Gabe Speier has officially been activated from the 15-day injured list after recovering from left shoulder inflammation. The move provides Seattle with another experienced option in the bullpen as the club continues navigating a competitive stretch of the season. To make room on the active roster, the Mariners sent right-handed pitcher Nick Davila down to Triple-A Tacoma.
The roster update was confirmed by the Mariners’ public relations team through social media earlier Tuesday. The announcement stated that Speier had been reinstated from the injured list while Davila was optioned back to the minors following his recent stint with the big league club.
