Arizona State Transfer Lineman Connor Cameron Commits to Baylor Bears
Baylor’s efforts to bolster its offensive line for the future took another step forward with the recent commitment of Connor Cameron, a transfer offensive lineman from Arizona State University. The redshirt freshman becomes the second offensive lineman to join the Bears this offseason via the transfer portal, alongside Joe Crocker, who transferred in from Louisville.
Originally part of the 2024 recruiting class, Cameron hails from Gilbert, Arizona, and spent his freshman year redshirting with the Sun Devils. Now, standing at 6-foot-7 and weighing 300 pounds, Cameron brings impressive size, length, and raw potential to the Baylor offensive line. With four full years of eligibility remaining, his commitment represents not only immediate depth but also long-term development value for head coach Dave Aranda’s program.
Cameron recently took an official visit to Baylor, which played a pivotal role in securing his decision. Speaking with BearsIllustrated, he expressed just how much of an impact the environment and coaching staff made on him.
“How welcoming the staff was and the genuine connection they have with their players stood out to me on the visit. The campus was extremely nice, and their facilities were the icing on the cake,” Cameron shared.
The Baylor coaching staff prioritized Cameron’s upside during the recruitment process. They were drawn not only to his physical attributes but also to his intangibles, believing he has the traits that could be molded into a high-level offensive lineman.
“They liked my intangibles and could see the program molding and developing me,” he added.
Cameron is expected to enroll at Baylor this summer, where he will begin working to carve out a spot on the team’s depth chart. While he may need time to adapt to the new system and continue refining his technique, his presence adds competition and future promise to an offensive line group that the coaching staff has placed a clear emphasis on upgrading through the portal.
With Cameron’s commitment, Baylor has now added 19 transfer players this cycle, 11 of whom come from Power Four conferences. This aggressive use of the transfer portal has been a key part of the Bears’ strategy to not only plug roster holes but also to elevate the overall talent level across multiple position groups.
Coming off a resurgent 2024 season, Baylor is aiming to build on that momentum and remain competitive in a tough conference landscape. The offensive line, being a foundational unit for both the running game and pass protection, is critical to those goals. Bringing in younger players like Cameron — who have the benefit of time to develop but can also potentially contribute sooner if needed — reflects a balanced approach to roster management.
Cameron joins a group of linemen at Baylor who are expected to compete hard throughout summer and fall camp. His versatility and frame may allow him to play at multiple spots on the line as he continues to progress under the guidance of Baylor’s staff.
With the transfer portal becoming an increasingly important tool for college football programs, Baylor’s ability to land a promising lineman like Connor Cameron is yet another sign that the Bears are positioning themselves well for both present success and future competitiveness.
