Good News: Baylor Lands Commitment From Four-Star Gifted QB

Four-Star Forward Elijah Williams Commits to Baylor, Becomes Bears’ First 2026 Pledge

Baylor head coach Scott Drew has secured his first major addition for the 2026 recruiting class, landing a commitment from four-star small forward Elijah Williams. The 6-foot-6 wing from TMI Episcopal in San Antonio, Texas, is the son of former NBA player and Coach of the Year Monty Williams.

Ranked No. 44 in the 2026 class, Williams has quickly emerged as one of the top small forward prospects in the country. His decision gives the Bears a strong foundation as they begin building out their future roster.

Williams recently spoke about his relationship with Drew, citing the personal connection as a key factor in his decision.

“Coach Drew is not only a great coach but a great person,” Williams told 247Sports. “He’s made an effort to get to know me, which means a lot. He believes in me and that’s all I can ask for.”

A versatile and physically gifted player, Williams has an advanced game for his age. He’s capable of scoring in the post, hitting shots from beyond the arc, and is improving his ball-handling. His development as a complete offensive threat has been evident this spring.

Playing for JL3 in Nike’s Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL), Williams has averaged 19.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game—solidifying his status as one of the top performers on the circuit.

As he prepares for his senior season, Williams is focused on expanding his role on the court.

“My biggest area of growth has been becoming more comfortable handling the ball and creating my own shot,” he said. “I’m becoming more of a three-level scorer. Honestly, I feel like I can do everything on the floor.”

With his skill set and pedigree, Williams is expected to be a key piece in Baylor’s long-term plans. His commitment not only marks a strong start to the Bears’ 2026 class, but also sends a message that Baylor remains a serious destination for elite talent.
