Three-Star WR Kohen Brown Commits to Texas
The Texas Longhorns have secured a key piece for their 2025 recruiting class with the commitment of three-star wide receiver Kohen Brown, a rising talent out of Denton, Texas. Brown announced his decision via social media on Wednesday, choosing the Longhorns over offers from several Power Five programs, including TCU, Baylor, and Oklahoma State.
Brown, listed at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, is known for his excellent route-running ability, reliable hands, and impressive football IQ. He had a breakout junior season at Ryan High School, recording over 1,000 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns, earning all-district honors and catching the attention of scouts throughout the region. While rated as a three-star prospect by most major recruiting services, Brown’s ceiling has drawn comparisons to several top-tier receivers who emerged as impact players in college despite being under-the-radar recruits.
In his commitment post, Brown expressed confidence in the Longhorns’ direction under head coach Steve Sarkisian, citing the offensive system and player development as key factors in his decision.
“Texas feels like home,” Brown wrote. “Coach Sark and the staff have believed in me from the start. I know I can grow here and help bring a championship back to Austin.”
The Longhorns’ coaching staff sees Brown as a perfect fit for their evolving offensive scheme, which emphasizes speed, versatility, and vertical threats. With the program preparing for its transition to the Southeastern Conference (SEC), the addition of Brown gives Texas another dynamic weapon to pair with their strong quarterback pipeline.
Recruiting analysts have noted that Brown’s commitment could also influence other targets in the region. His leadership and reputation among Texas high school players make him a potential magnet for other top prospects still weighing their options.
As the Longhorns continue building momentum on the recruiting trail, Kohen Brown’s pledge adds not just talent to the wide receiver room but also character and confidence to a team eager to make noise on the national stage.
