Three Key Trade Targets for the Indiana Fever Ahead of the 2025 WNBA Deadline
With the 2025 WNBA trade deadline quickly approaching, the Indiana Fever are in a strong position to improve their roster ahead of a second straight playoff appearance. Despite entering the season with high hopes, the team has faced setbacks, including Caitlin Clark’s injury troubles and DeWanna Bonner’s underwhelming and short-lived stint with the team. Still, the Fever are in solid playoff standing and could benefit from a few roster upgrades.
Unlike the NBA, WNBA trade deadlines are usually quieter, but Indiana may be ready to make a big move. To maximize their postseason push and support Clark’s return, the Fever should consider targeting these three players:
1. Tiffany Hayes (SG/SF, Golden State Valkyries)
After Bonner’s disappointing run, Indiana still needs a reliable veteran scorer off the bench. Tiffany Hayes fits that need well. Currently averaging 12.7 points with the Valkyries, Hayes has proven experience as a sixth player, previously contributing to the Las Vegas Aces’ title chase. Her scoring ability and leadership would bolster Indiana’s second unit. While Golden State may be hesitant to part with Hayes, they have enough backcourt depth to make a deal possible.
2. Aaliyah Edwards (PF/C, Washington Mystics)
The Fever also need more depth in the frontcourt behind star center Aliyah Boston. Aaliyah Edwards, though recently underutilized in Washington due to the emergence of Kiki Iriafen, still has strong defensive and rebounding potential. She’s seen a dip in minutes and stats this season, but her energy and physicality could greatly improve Indiana’s second-team defense. Her fit next to Boston in bigger lineups would be a clear upgrade from current backup Damiris Dantas.
3. Brittney Griner (C, Atlanta Dream)
Though not the same dominant force she once was, Brittney Griner still offers scoring and shot-blocking ability that could benefit Indiana. She’s averaging 10.6 points and 5.6 rebounds this season but hasn’t meshed well with Brionna Jones in Atlanta. A change of scenery could help Griner rediscover her form, especially alongside a versatile big like Boston. The Fever could offer her a more suitable role where her offensive skills, especially in pick-and-roll situations with Clark, are better utilized.
Adding any of these three could strengthen Indiana’s roster as they chase a deep playoff run.
