Kentucky Wildcats football continued its strong push on the recruiting trail by landing a major addition to its 2027 class with the commitment of four-star wide receiver Iveon Lewis from Richmond, Virginia. The talented pass catcher announced his decision after considering several powerhouse programs from across the country.

Lewis, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs around 185 pounds, selected Kentucky over an impressive list of schools that included Georgia Bulldogs football, Ohio State Buckeyes football, Oklahoma Sooners football, Tennessee Volunteers football, and Indiana Hoosiers football. His commitment gives first-year head coach Will Stein and offensive coordinator Joe Sloan another highly regarded offensive player as they continue shaping Kentucky’s future roster.
Kentucky’s coaching staff identified Lewis as a priority prospect early in the recruiting process, extending him an offer back in February. That early relationship proved valuable, as the Wildcats managed to secure his commitment before his scheduled official visit to Lexington on June 19. The commitment is another sign that Kentucky’s staff is gaining momentum on the recruiting trail and building strong relationships with top prospects nationwide.
According to recruiting rankings from Rivals, Lewis is viewed as one of the top overall players in the country for the 2027 class. He is ranked No. 238 nationally, listed as the 36th-best wide receiver in the class, and considered the fifth-best player in the state of Virginia. With his pledge, Lewis becomes one of the highest-rated players currently committed to Kentucky, trailing only quarterback Jake Nawrot in the Wildcats’ 2027 class.
Lewis is widely viewed as a dynamic playmaker capable of creating problems for opposing defenses in multiple ways. Scouts praise his physical build and ability to stretch the field both vertically and horizontally. His combination of size, strength, and athleticism allows him to overpower defensive backs while also making difficult catches in traffic.
One of Lewis’ most impressive traits is his ability to adjust to passes near the sideline and track the football across the middle of the field. He also shows toughness after the catch, frequently breaking tackles and gaining additional yards. Evaluators believe his sharp route running helps him create separation effectively, though his top-end speed is still considered an area for improvement as he prepares for his senior season of high school football.
Many recruiting analysts project Lewis as a future multi-year starter at the Power Four level because of his versatility. He has the ability to line up both on the outside and in the slot, giving offensive coordinators flexibility in how they use him.
Lewis now joins what is already shaping up to be one of Kentucky’s deepest and most balanced recruiting classes in recent years. The Wildcats have added talent throughout the roster, including players at quarterback, wide receiver, defensive back, linebacker, offensive line, and defensive line.
Some of the notable commitments already in Kentucky’s 2027 class include quarterback Jake Nawrot, tight end Tank Proctor, linebacker Ty Ashley, defensive lineman Elijah Brown, and defensive back Miguel Wilson.
With more than a year still remaining before the 2027 recruiting cycle officially concludes, Kentucky’s coaching staff is expected to continue adding talent as excitement surrounding the program grows. Lewis’ commitment represents another significant step toward building a competitive future roster capable of challenging some of the nation’s top programs.
