The Seattle Mariners received a significant boost to their roster on Friday as outfielder Victor Robles officially returned from the 10-day injured list after recovering from a strained right pectoral muscle. The move gives Seattle additional outfield depth and brings back one of the team’s most versatile defensive players as the club continues its push through the middle portion of the MLB season.
To make room on the active roster, the Mariners optioned Connor Joe to Triple-A Tacoma. Joe had recently provided depth for Seattle during Robles’ absence, but the organization ultimately chose to restore Robles to the major league roster following a successful rehab assignment.

Robles had been sidelined since April 6 after suffering the pectoral injury, forcing him to miss more than a month of action. Prior to the injury, the veteran outfielder had been expected to contribute primarily as a defensive specialist and situational hitter, particularly against left-handed pitching. His return now gives Seattle another experienced option in the outfield rotation at an important point in the season.
Before being activated, Robles spent time with Triple-A Tacoma on a rehabilitation assignment to regain timing at the plate and rebuild his conditioning. Over 12 games with Tacoma, the 27-year-old showed encouraging signs of progress offensively. He posted a .256 batting average along with a .389 on-base percentage and a .349 slugging percentage across 54 plate appearances.
In addition to collecting four doubles and driving in seven runs, Robles also scored 10 runs and stole two bases during the rehab stint. Perhaps most importantly, he demonstrated patience at the plate, drawing nine walks while striking out 13 times. The Mariners were pleased with both his health and overall activity level before deciding he was ready to return to the majors.
Seattle is expected to use Robles strategically upon his return, particularly in matchups against left-handed pitching where his speed and defensive range can provide value. While he may not immediately step into an everyday role, his versatility gives manager Scott Servais additional flexibility with lineup construction and late-game defensive situations.
Robles has built a reputation throughout his MLB career as an athletic outfielder capable of impacting games with his glove, speed, and energy. Although offensive consistency has occasionally been a challenge for him, teams continue to value his ability to cover ground defensively and create pressure on the bases.
The Mariners have dealt with multiple injuries and lineup inconsistencies throughout the season, making Robles’ return especially important as the club attempts to remain competitive in the American League playoff race. Seattle’s front office has emphasized improving roster depth over the past several seasons, and getting healthy contributors back from injury could play a major role in determining the team’s success moving forward.
For Connor Joe, the move back to Triple-A does not necessarily close the door on future opportunities with the Mariners. Injuries and roster adjustments throughout a long MLB season often create chances for players to return quickly. Joe has already shown he can provide veteran depth and positional flexibility whenever needed.
As for Robles, the focus now shifts toward staying healthy and rediscovering his rhythm at the major league level. If he can carry over some of the positive momentum from his rehab assignment, the Mariners may gain an important contributor for the second half of the season.
Seattle hopes the return of the veteran outfielder can help strengthen the roster as the club continues battling in a competitive American League race.
