Texas Rangers Call Up Jonah Bride, Option Alejandro Osuna
ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers have made a notable change to their active roster, selecting the contract of infielder Jonah Bride from Triple-A Round Rock ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Baltimore Orioles.
Bride was immediately inserted into the Rangers’ starting lineup, taking over at third base as Texas looked to strengthen its infield options. The move gives the club another experienced right-handed bat while providing Bride with an opportunity to make an impact at the Major League level.
The 30-year-old Bride has enjoyed a productive season with Round Rock. In 97 games, the right-handed hitter has posted a .282 batting average, along with 10 home runs and 60 RBIs. His offensive production in the minors helped earn him another opportunity with the Rangers as the club continues to evaluate its roster.
Bride’s latest Major League experience came during the 2025 season, when he appeared for the Minnesota Twins in June. Now, he returns to the big leagues with Texas hoping to provide stability and offensive production.
To make room for Bride on the active roster, the Rangers optioned outfielder Alejandro Osuna to Triple-A Round Rock.
Osuna has appeared in 76 games for Texas this season, batting .255 with one home run and 24 RBIs. Although the young outfielder has shown flashes of potential, the Rangers decided to send him back to the minors as part of the latest roster adjustment.
The move allows Osuna to continue getting regular playing time at Round Rock while Bride receives an opportunity to contribute immediately at the Major League level.
For the Rangers, the decision comes as the team continues searching for the right combination of players to help strengthen its roster. Injuries, performance and the need for additional depth can all influence roster decisions during a long MLB season, and Texas is taking advantage of its organizational depth.
Bride’s promotion could give the Rangers additional flexibility because of his ability to play multiple infield positions. His right-handed bat could also provide another option for the lineup, particularly against certain pitching matchups.
His production at Triple-A suggests that he enters the Rangers’ clubhouse with confidence. Hitting .282 while recording 10 homers and 60 RBIs over 97 games demonstrates the offensive consistency that Texas hopes he can carry over to the Major League level.
Meanwhile, Osuna’s option does not necessarily represent a long-term change in his status with the organization. The Rangers can continue developing the young outfielder at Triple-A while monitoring his progress and waiting for another opportunity to bring him back to the majors.
