HERE WE GO: Rangers Complete the Signing of Another Top Experienced Star as They Bolster Squad Depth

Rangers Agree €7.6 Million Deal for Two-Time League Winner Couhaib Driouech

Rangers are reportedly closing in on the signing of PSV winger Couhaib Driouech after reaching an agreement worth around €7.6 million for the highly rated attacker. The potential arrival would represent another significant addition to Derek McInnes’ squad as the Ibrox club looks to strengthen its options following a difficult opening to the new campaign.

Rangers have endured a frustrating start to the season, with McInnes already facing pressure after just three competitive matches in charge. The Scottish giants are still searching for their first victory of the campaign after failing to build momentum in their opening fixtures.

The Gers began with a 1-1 draw against Dundee United before suffering consecutive 2-1 defeats. The first came against Jagiellonia Bialystok in Europa League qualifying, while the second was against Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership. Those results have increased concerns that some of the problems that affected Rangers last season remain unresolved.

With several new players already brought through the door during the summer transfer window, McInnes is continuing to reshape his squad. Driouech could now become the manager’s latest recruit and potentially the club’s 10th signing of a busy summer.

According to reports from Sky Sports, Rangers have agreed a €7.6m transfer with PSV for Driouech, with the player expected to become an important attacking option at Ibrox.

The 24-year-old is capable of operating in several positions across the forward line, although his preferred role is on the wing. His versatility could give McInnes another option as he attempts to improve Rangers’ attacking threat.

At first glance, Driouech’s signing may not appear to be a blockbuster acquisition, particularly because his estimated transfer value is around €4.8m and he was primarily used as a rotational player during his time at PSV. However, his statistics suggest that there is plenty of potential behind the move.

During the previous campaign, Driouech registered nine goals and eight assists in just over 1,300 minutes of football. Those numbers indicate that he can make a significant contribution when given regular opportunities. He also impressed during Champions League appearances, demonstrating that he can perform on a major European stage.

Another attractive aspect of the potential transfer is Driouech’s winning experience. The winger has already collected two Eredivisie titles with PSV, giving him valuable experience of competing at the highest level and playing for a club under pressure to win trophies.

Driouech was also attracting attention from elsewhere this summer. Clubs including Burnley and Celta Vigo reportedly showed concrete interest in the Netherlands-based attacker, making Rangers’ agreement an important piece of business for the Scottish club.

His qualities have also been highlighted by Eredivisie observers. His pace and dribbling ability are considered among his biggest strengths, although there have been questions about his decision-making when attempting to take on defenders. His finishing can also improve, meaning Rangers may need to be patient while he adapts to a bigger role.

Nevertheless, Driouech appears to offer Rangers a combination of speed, creativity, versatility and European experience. While he may not yet be the finished article, regular football at Ibrox could provide the platform for him to develop further.

With the final details of the transfer still reportedly being completed, Rangers supporters will be waiting for official confirmation. If the deal goes through, Driouech could become one of the club’s most intriguing additions of the summer as McInnes looks to turn around Rangers’ disappointing start.
