Kirby Smart, Georgia Players Preview 2026 Fall Training Camp

Kirby Smart and several Georgia players opened the 2026 fall camp by outlining what the Bulldogs need to improve before the new season.

Smart emphasized toughness, grit and roster development, saying Georgia has roughly 125–127 players practicing and that the camp should help the team build depth and identify players who can contribute in pressure situations.

The biggest emphasis remains the running game. Smart acknowledged that Georgia was below its standard in that area last season and stressed that championship teams must be able to run the football and stop the run. He also wants the Bulldogs to create more turnovers and explosive

Among the players highlighted were KJ Bolden, Chris Cole, Lawson Luckie and Earnest Greene III. Smart praised Bolden’s leadership in the secondary and called Cole one of the team’s hardest workers, while the players discussed their own expectations heading into camp

Injuries are also being monitored, including safety Kyron Jones, who is being gradually worked back into full practice activity. Running back Dante Dowdell remains away from the team without a firm timeline, while Smart identified Dwight Phillips Jr. as one of Georgia’s most explosive offensive players

With the 2026 season approaching, Georgia’s fall camp is ultimately about answering a few major questions: Can the Bulldogs improve their running game, generate more defensive havoc, develop depth and become tougher in fourth-quarter battles? Smart believes camp will provide those answers. �
