LSU’s defensive line haul for the 2025 class has increased from two to four commitments in a span of only one day.
Zion Williams, a defensive tackle for LSU, committed to the school’s 2025 recruiting class on Thursday. Two more defensive linemen joined Williams on Friday.
Brandon Brown went first and declared he was going to Baton Rouge. The defensive tackle, rated a low four star, had previously committed to Texas, but he changed his mind to follow Bo Davis, who had been recruiting him to the Longhorns. Florida native Brown made his initial commitment to Texas in December. He made his official visit to LSU earlier in the summer, after making an unofficial visit for the Spring Game.
His mother, Nyesha Brown, told On3, “What stood out was how family oriented everything was and going to eat breakfast at Coach Kelly’s house proved it even more.” “It has nothing about it that I dislike.”
Regarding Bo Davis, she responded, “He’s real.” I won’t give my son what he wants to hear; I’ll only give him what he needs to know. He seems like the kind to hang around his neck.
On3 has the highest rating on Brown out of the four main recruiting services. On3 ranks him as their No. 218 recruit and a top-20 defensive tackle. He is a composite four-star prospect.
Edge rusher Damien Shanklin has been added as the third and largest addition in the last twenty-four hours. Shanklin is rated 86th overall in the class and is a composite four-star prospect. Shanklin, a prospect from the Indianapolis area who is ranked as the top player in Indiana, chose LSU over schools like Ohio State, Notre Dame, Alabama, and others.
Similar to Brown, Shanklin made his official visit in June after making an unofficial visit during the Spring Game. His main recruiter was Kevin Peoples, who has now secured commitments from two of the top 100 prospects in the nation, including Tampa’s Jesse Harrold.
Shanklin remarked, “I just think Coach Peoples can turn me into one of those guys like Darius Robinson, get me to the next level, and chase my dreams.” “I genuinely adore every aspect of it.”
With fifteen commitments, LSU is currently tied for third place in the nation with Oregon. On3 indicates that Oregon, who has 15 commits as well, is currently ahead of LSU by a narrow margin. Although the classes at Ohio State and Alabama are ranked first and second, respectively, both programs have more commits than those at Oregon and LSU. The Tide have 20, while Ohio State has 22.
