Compared to his deal with Boston, which was for a 2-year AAV of $4 million, his current contract offers him $5.5 million annually, a substantial increase. The Canucks felt he was a key component to finishing their team for the 2024–25 campaign after his 19 goals and 40 points in 80 games the previous season.
Furthermore, given that DeBrusk is currently 27 years old, the Canucks have signed him during his prime. He responded, “They were very aggressive” in their approach and both parties were interested in the deal when asked why he picked the Vancouver Canucks as his next team.
We were conversing and such, and I had a really positive vibe about them. It seemed like things would hopefully go in the right direction. Jake DeBrusk according to Clutch Points’ Tristin McKinstry.
Now that he has a better contract and a guaranteed spot in an NHL team, DeBrusk acknowledges that he feels “lucky and fortunate to be in that position.” Given the high mental pressure involved, he characterized the free agency as “pretty intense.” Fortunately, DeBrusk discovered his “stability,” something “I’ve never had.”
Patrik Allvin, general manager of the Canucks, has high hopes for Jake DeBrusk.
Jake DeBrusk’s time with the Boston Bruins has ended, but since joining the Vancouver Canucks, he has emerged as one of their most important players. Unless head coach Rick Tocchet decides differently, Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin thinks he can start alongside Elias Pettersson.
DeBrusk is a “responsible two-way guy,” in Allvin’s opinion, and the team will benefit from his “versatility” and “speed.” He observes,
Based on my observations over the years, Jake has demonstrated a consistent ability to improve during the playoffs. Jake DeBrusk according to Clutch Points’ Tristin McKinstry.
The 2024–25 regular season games will show how the signing turned out. DeBrusk thanked the players, staff, and fans on his Instagram account for their support over the years in a heartfelt message he shared after signing with the Canucks.
