Despite a wave of concern circulating among fans, there is no clear indication that Corey Seager is on his way out of the Texas Rangers following recent struggles at the plate. While his current slump has raised eyebrows, history suggests the situation may be more of a temporary dip than a long-term issue.
Since joining the Texas Rangers ahead of the 2022 season, Seager has experienced occasional rough patches, but nothing quite like his current stretch. Through the first 31 games of the season, he has appeared in 30 contests, showing durability and consistency in terms of availability. However, his recent offensive production has taken a noticeable hit. Over his last 15 games, he is hitting just .211 and has struck out 16 times, numbers that reflect a difficult stretch for one of the team’s most important hitters.
Even with these struggles, there is still confidence around Seager’s ability to rebound. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong capacity to make adjustments after downturns. For many within the organization and fan base, the belief remains that one strong game—or even one big swing—could be enough to spark a turnaround.
Still, the timing of his slump has made things frustrating. In several key moments, Seager has come up short in high-pressure situations. One example came during a recent matchup against the New York Yankees, when he stepped to the plate with runners on base and the potential to tie or win the game. Instead, he grounded into a double play on a splitter, ending the threat and highlighting his current struggles in clutch situations.
Over his last several appearances, the inconsistency has been clear. Since mid-April, Seager has hovered around the low .200s, entering a recent series in Detroit batting approximately .207. While there have been brief flashes of his usual form during home games, his overall production has been limited. In one recent four-game stretch, he managed just two hits in 16 at-bats while striking out seven times.
Despite the slump, his overall season numbers are still respectable compared to expectations during a cold stretch. He continues to lead the Rangers in home runs with six and has driven in 17 runs. His on-base plus slugging percentage sits slightly above league average at .711, indicating that while he is not at peak form, he is still contributing offensively in meaningful ways.
This is not the first time Seager has gone through a difficult start to a season. In 2024, he also opened the year slowly, batting just .208 in April with limited power production and more strikeouts than walks. However, he rebounded in dominant fashion during May, posting an OPS above 1.000 and ultimately finishing the season with another 30-home-run campaign.
Given that track record, the Rangers continue to view Seager as a proven performer rather than a long-term concern. When healthy and locked in, he has consistently delivered at an All-Star level. At 32 years old, he still carries significant offensive value, and the organization appears willing to ride out the current slump with the expectation that better production is on the way.
