Titans land top LB with saints ties
May 15, 2025 | Nashville, TN — First-year general manager Mike Borgonzi continues to reshape the Tennessee Titans in his own image, and his latest move adds both talent and familiarity to the defensive side of the ball.
The Titans have reportedly signed former New Orleans Saints linebacker Zack Baun, a versatile defender with deep Tennessee roots. Baun, originally drafted by the Saints in 2020, brings five years of NFL experience and a reputation for being a high-motor, scheme-flexible linebacker capable of contributing on all three downs and special teams.
Baun, who played his college football at Wisconsin, grew up in the Nashville area, making this something of a homecoming for the 27-year-old. Though he never emerged as a full-time starter in New Orleans, Baun flashed promise as a rotational piece and special teams ace — qualities that fit perfectly with what Borgonzi and head coach Brian Callahan are building.
This signing adds to a wave of strategic veteran pickups by the Titans this offseason. With Cam Ward drafted as the potential franchise quarterback and the wide receiver room bolstered by the additions of Tyler Lockett and Van Jefferson, Tennessee is clearly aiming for a faster, more experienced, and tougher roster in 2025.
On defense, adding veterans like Dre’Mont Jones and Cody Barton gives the unit some bite, but Baun’s familiarity with hybrid fronts and his special teams prowess could earn him an immediate role.
Baun’s signing may not move the national needle, but it’s another reflection of Borgonzi’s attention to detail — building a team that can compete week in and week out by blending youth, experience, and local ties.
The Titans may have won just three games in 2024, but they are far from rebuilding passively. With the addition of Baun, they’ve made another calculated step toward a bounce-back season.
