Breaking: Wisconsin Badgers Football Face With Another Major Setbacks As Fans Favorite Superstar Leaves Camp Randall Stadium To Join Divisional Rival

Wisconsin Football Loses 3-Star Edge Rusher Carmelow Reed to Ole Miss

Following a promising weekend of adding talent to its defensive front, the Wisconsin Badgers football program experienced a setback on Monday as they lost a key commitment from their 2026 recruiting class.

Carmelow Reed, a three-star outside linebacker from Chicago, announced via social media that he has flipped his commitment from Wisconsin to Ole Miss. Reed had originally committed to the Badgers in April and was viewed as a strong fit for the team’s evolving defensive scheme, particularly with his 6-foot-7 frame suited for the edge rusher role Wisconsin is emphasizing.

Reed took an official visit to Ole Miss over the weekend, and it appears that the visit significantly influenced his decision to join the SEC program. Efforts to reach Reed for comment on Monday evening were unsuccessful.

The departure of Reed drops Wisconsin’s 2026 recruiting class to nine players. The coaching staff will now need to reevaluate their options and refocus efforts on bringing in another edge rusher to fill the gap left by Reed’s decommitment.

Despite losing Reed, the Badgers had a productive recruiting weekend. On Sunday, they secured commitments from defensive linemen Djidjou Bah and Arthur Scott, as well as linebacker Ben Wenzel, following a series of official visits. Still, Reed’s decommitment stings, especially as he had shown signs of continued development and was attracting more attention nationally even after pledging to Wisconsin.

There may be a silver lining, however. Over the weekend, Ole Miss saw a four-star wide receiver, Zion Legree, decommit from their program. Rumors have already begun swirling that Legree is in communication with Wisconsin, suggesting a potential recruiting twist that could benefit the Badgers in the near future.

As recruiting battles intensify, the Badgers will look to rebound quickly and reinforce their defensive recruiting pipeline in the 2026 class.
