As the end of June nears and the recruiting dead period approaches, Auburn football is making the most of its time by hosting top prospects from around the country. One of the most notable visitors this week was Elijah Haven, the nation’s top quarterback in the 2027 recruiting class, who made his first trip to the Plains.
Hailing from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Haven is currently ranked as the No. 22 overall prospect in the 2027 class and the No. 1 quarterback. He is also considered the fourth-best player in Louisiana. On Wednesday, he spent several hours on Auburn’s campus touring the facilities and engaging with the coaching staff, especially quarterbacks coach Kent Austin.
During their conversations, Austin explained how Haven’s talents would align with Auburn’s offensive system. He made comparisons between Haven and current Auburn freshman quarterback Deuce Knight, emphasizing their similar playing styles.
“You look at someone like Deuce Knight — we share a lot of similar traits,” Haven told Auburn Rivals. “I feel like I would thrive in this offense. The coaches really took time to talk about their approach to developing quarterbacks and what makes them stand out from other programs. That meant a lot to me, because that’s a big factor in my decision-making — how schools help quarterbacks grow. Deuce is a strong example of that.”
Although Haven is not rushing into a commitment, he aims to finalize his college choice before starting his senior year. Before June ends, he also intends to take visits to Michigan, LSU, and Alabama.
