Auburn forward Sebastian Williams-Adams has officially confirmed he will return to the program for the 2026–27 season, providing a significant boost for the Tigers as they look to build on last year’s momentum. The announcement was made by the program on Friday morning, solidifying Williams-Adams as one of the key players committed to continuing under head coach Steven Pearl.

With his decision, Williams-Adams joins guards Simon Walker and Kevin Overton as returning contributors who have already pledged to come back for another year. Their collective return gives Auburn a strong foundation of continuity heading into the new season, something that could prove crucial as the team aims to take the next step forward.
Standing at 6-foot-8 and hailing from Houston, Williams-Adams made an immediate impact during his freshman campaign. He played in all 38 games for the Tigers, showcasing both durability and consistency throughout the season. Not only was he a regular presence in the lineup, but he also earned 21 starts, highlighting the trust the coaching staff placed in him early on.
Statistically, Williams-Adams delivered a solid all-around performance. He averaged 27.4 minutes per game while contributing 7.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest. In addition to his scoring and rebounding, he showed versatility by adding 1.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game. His efficiency stood out as well, as he shot an impressive 51 percent from the field and added a perimeter element with 12 made three-pointers over the course of the season.
Auburn’s overall record last season was 22–16, marking a transitional year for the program. In Steven Pearl’s first season as head coach, the Tigers fell short of qualifying for the NCAA Tournament, a disappointment for a program with high expectations. However, the team responded in a meaningful way by finishing the season strong.
Rather than letting the setback define them, Auburn regrouped and made a deep run in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT). The Tigers won five consecutive games to capture the NIT Championship, ending their season on a high note and demonstrating their potential when playing at their best.
Following that championship victory, Williams-Adams spoke about the importance of what the team accomplished and how it could shape their future. He emphasized that winning the NIT together gave the group confidence and a clearer understanding of their capabilities. According to him, the experience highlighted the strength of the team’s core and offered a glimpse of what could be achieved with further development and the right additions to the roster.
Looking ahead, Williams-Adams believes continuity will be a major advantage. With several key players returning, Auburn will not need to start from scratch. Instead, the team can focus on building chemistry and making targeted improvements to complement its existing strengths.
His return signals optimism for the Tigers as they prepare for the 2026–27 season. With a young but experienced core already in place, Auburn appears well-positioned to carry forward the momentum from its NIT success and potentially reestablish itself as a contender for a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
