Auburn Forward, 19 years old, Confirms Return for 2026–27 Season
Auburn basketball received a significant boost for the future as forward, 19, officially announced he will return to the program for the 2026–27 season. The decision, confirmed by the team on Friday morning, provides continuity for the Tigers as they continue building under head coach Steven Pearl.
Williams-Adams becomes one of three players who have already committed to staying with the program for another year, joining guards Simon Walker and Kevin Overton. This early group of returners gives Auburn a solid foundation to build upon heading into the next phase of the program’s development.
Standing at 6-foot-8 and hailing from Houston, Texas, Williams-Adams made an immediate impact during his freshman campaign. He appeared in all 38 games for the Tigers, demonstrating both durability and consistency throughout the season. Logging an average of 27.4 minutes per game, he also earned 21 starts, highlighting the coaching staff’s trust in his abilities despite his youth.
Statistically, Williams-Adams delivered a well-rounded performance. He averaged 7.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game while contributing across multiple areas of the court. His versatility was evident in his additional averages of 1.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game. Efficient shooting also played a key role in his contributions, as he converted 51 percent of his field goal attempts and added perimeter value by making 12 three-pointers over the course of the season.
Auburn’s overall performance last year reflected both growth and challenges. The Tigers finished with a 22–16 record in Steven Pearl’s first season leading the program. Although they fell short of qualifying for the NCAA Tournament, the team showed resilience by regrouping and finishing strong. Auburn went on an impressive late-season run, winning five consecutive games to capture the NIT Championship.
That postseason success appears to have played a role in shaping the mindset of returning players like Williams-Adams. Following the NIT victory, he emphasized the importance of what the team accomplished together and the potential it represents moving forward. He noted that the experience provided a glimpse of what the group could achieve with continuity and further roster development.
Williams-Adams expressed optimism about the future, pointing out that the core group now has a better understanding of each other’s strengths and how they can succeed as a unit.
