The St. Louis Cardinals stayed busy on Wednesday with a series of roster adjustments throughout their minor league system, continuing what has been an active stretch for the organization’s farm clubs. Several players either moved up levels, returned from injury, or landed on the injured list, while the team also added a young international pitching prospect to the organization.

Among the announcements, the Cardinals revealed that outfielder Tai Peete was placed on the seven-day injured list at High-A Peoria. In addition, outfielder Luis Pino earned a promotion from Class-A Palm Beach to High-A Peoria, while infielder Michael Dattalo was reinstated from the injured list at the Class-A level. Another outfielder, Facundo Velásquez, also moved up the ladder after being transferred from the Florida Complex League to Palm Beach.
Perhaps the most intriguing move outside of the promotions involved the signing of 17-year-old right-handed pitcher Miguel Vega from Mexico. The Cardinals officially signed Vega to a minor league contract and assigned him to the Dominican Summer League, where he will begin his development within the organization.
The transaction drawing the most attention is undoubtedly the injury update involving Peete, one of the organization’s more exciting young prospects. Currently ranked as the Cardinals’ No. 17 prospect, Peete joined St. Louis during the offseason as part of the major three-team trade involving the Seattle Mariners and Tampa Bay Rays. That deal was centered around Brendan Donovan and brought Peete into the Cardinals’ system with considerable expectations.
Before landing on the injured list, Peete had been enjoying a productive season with High-A Peoria. Through 28 games, the talented outfielder posted an impressive .276 batting average along with a .355 on-base percentage and a .537 slugging percentage. His overall .892 OPS highlighted the impact he was making offensively.
Peete also displayed a combination of power and speed that has made him one of the more intriguing young players in the system. He collected five home runs, 23 RBIs, and five stolen bases while also scoring 22 runs. In addition, he recorded 11 doubles and three triples, showing his ability to drive the ball consistently into the gaps. His patience at the plate also stood out, as he drew 15 walks during his strong start to the season.
As for Vega, there is still limited information available regarding the young pitcher. Some reports indicate he is also known as Jose Vega. The 17-year-old right-hander previously appeared briefly for Diablos Rojos del Mexico during the 2025 season, allowing one run while recording two outs in his lone appearance.
Last August, the Mexican club placed Vega on its reserve list before the Cardinals eventually signed him. Standing at 6-foot-0, the young pitcher will now begin his professional journey in the Cardinals’ developmental pipeline, starting in the Dominican Summer League.
While none of Wednesday’s moves directly affect the major league roster, they provide another glimpse into how active the Cardinals have been in shaping their future talent. Promotions, injury updates, and international signings continue to reshape the organization’s farm system. For now, Peete remains the player drawing the most attention, especially given the strong season he was putting together before his injury setback.
