Good News: Just In: Another five-star OT commits to the Auburn Tigers after rejecting Kentucky and Alabama.

Auburn secured a major recruiting victory on Monday when highly regarded offensive tackle prospect Layton von Brandt announced his commitment to the Tigers. The talented lineman from Delaware selected Auburn over several powerhouse programs, giving the Tigers one of their biggest recruiting wins early in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

Von Brandt, who attends Appoquinimink High School in Middletown, Delaware, is widely viewed as one of the top offensive line prospects in the country. Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing around 290 pounds, he has already developed into an imposing presence on the field despite still having multiple years left before reaching the college level. His size, athletic ability, and potential made him one of the most sought-after players in the 2027 class.

The recruiting battle for von Brandt was intense from the beginning. Auburn had to fend off strong competition from several nationally recognized programs, including Notre Dame, Florida, Penn State, Georgia, Florida State, and Indiana. Many recruiting analysts believed Notre Dame was in a favorable position to land the standout tackle, especially after recruiting insider Eric Thomas logged a crystal ball prediction in favor of the Fighting Irish. Despite that momentum for Notre Dame, Auburn ultimately won out and convinced the talented lineman to join its future roster.

The commitment is viewed as a significant accomplishment for Auburn’s coaching staff, led by head coach Alex Golesh. Landing a player of von Brandt’s caliber not only strengthens the Tigers’ future offensive line but also sends a message that Auburn can compete with elite programs on the recruiting trail. Winning a head-to-head battle against Notre Dame and other major schools could also help Auburn build momentum with additional recruits in the coming months.

Von Brandt’s rankings further highlight the importance of the commitment. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, he is rated as the No. 64 overall player in the entire 2027 recruiting class. He is also recognized as one of the top offensive tackles nationally and is considered the No. 1 player in the state of Delaware. Those rankings place him among the elite prospects in his class and make him one of Auburn’s most valuable early pledges.

With his commitment, von Brandt becomes the second-highest-rated player currently pledged to Auburn in the 2027 cycle. Only four-star running back Myson Johnson-Cook ranks ahead of him among the Tigers’ current commitments. Auburn fans are already excited about the foundation the program is building with these early additions.

Von Brandt also becomes the second offensive lineman to commit to Auburn for the 2027 class. He joins three-star interior offensive lineman Jaylon Moore from Georgia, giving the Tigers a strong start in rebuilding and strengthening the trenches for the future. Adding multiple offensive linemen early in the recruiting cycle is often a priority for coaching staffs, as it helps establish long-term stability and depth along the offensive front.

For Auburn, securing a commitment from one of the nation’s top offensive tackle prospects represents another important step toward building a highly competitive recruiting class for 2027.
