Kentucky basketball received a major boost for the future as center has officially withdrawn from the 2026 NBA Draft and will return to Lexington for his sophomore season with the Kentucky Wildcats.
According to reports, Moreno made the decision ahead of the May 27 withdrawal deadline and informed head coach Mark Pope that he will continue his development in college rather than begin his professional career. Sources also indicated that Moreno canceled the remaining pre-draft workouts he had scheduled with NBA teams, signaling a clear commitment to returning to Kentucky.
Moreno’s decision comes after a strong freshman campaign that placed him among the top young big men in the SEC. He earned All-SEC Freshman Team honors and quickly established himself as a key piece in Kentucky’s rotation. While he was not yet considered a lottery pick, some draft projections had him slotted as a possible late first-round selection depending on team needs and pre-draft evaluations.
As a freshman, Moreno appeared in all 36 games and earned 30 starts, showing both durability and consistency throughout the season. He averaged 7.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game, providing the Wildcats with reliable production on both ends of the floor. His ability to protect the rim and finish efficiently around the basket made him an important presence in the frontcourt.
One of Moreno’s most impressive traits was his shooting efficiency. He connected on 58.2 percent of his field goal attempts, largely through high-percentage looks near the rim and strong positioning in the paint. His size, timing, and defensive instincts allowed him to make an impact even when his scoring numbers were modest.
