BREAKING: Seattle Mariners Face Another Major Setback as Key Starter Suffers Major Injury and Will Ruled Out till……….

Mariners Place Emerson Hancock on 15-Day Injured List With Adductor Strain

The Seattle Mariners have suffered another setback to their pitching staff, placing right-hander Emerson Hancock on the 15-day injured list after the pitcher experienced an issue with his left leg during his latest outing.

Seattle officially made the move Sunday, listing Hancock with a left adductor strain. The transaction was backdated to Aug. 29, meaning the earliest the 27-year-old pitcher can return will come after he completes the required 15-day period on the injured list.

Hancock’s injury occurred during Friday’s matchup against the Toronto Blue Jays. The right-hander reportedly noticed something was not quite right with his left leg early in the start. Despite feeling the issue, Hancock continued pitching and completed five innings for Seattle.

It ultimately proved to be a difficult night for the Mariners starter. Hancock surrendered five runs across his five innings of work and was charged with the loss as Toronto came away with the victory. Although he managed to remain in the game after initially feeling discomfort, the injury has now forced Seattle to temporarily remove him from its active pitching plans.

The timing is particularly important for the Mariners as they continue navigating a demanding portion of the season. Hancock is expected to miss at least 15 days, which could cost him approximately two starts depending on how Seattle structures its rotation during his absence.

The Mariners will now have to find a temporary solution to cover the innings Hancock would have been expected to provide. With the postseason race becoming increasingly significant, maintaining depth within the starting rotation will be an important priority for Seattle.

To fill Hancock’s spot on the 26-man roster, the Mariners recalled Nick Davila from Triple-A Tacoma. Davila now has an opportunity to contribute at the major-league level while Seattle waits for Hancock to recover.

For Hancock, the immediate priority will be getting healthy and avoiding any complications that could extend his absence beyond the initial 15-day window. The Mariners are likely to monitor his progress closely before determining when he is ready to begin working his way back into the rotation.

Hancock, 27, has continued to be part of Seattle’s pitching depth, and his temporary absence creates another challenge for a club attempting to remain competitive. The Mariners will need their remaining starters to take on additional responsibility while Hancock is sidelined.

There is still no indication that the injury will keep Hancock out for an extended period beyond the minimum injured-list stint. However, his recovery will determine whether he can return to the mound as soon as he becomes eligible or needs additional time.

For now, Seattle will move forward without one of its right-handed options and turn to its available pitching depth, including Davila, as it looks to navigate Hancock’s absence.
