Boston Red Sox Trade Acquisition Departs Game with Apparent Injury.
The Boston Red Sox’s newest trade acquisition, Curtis Mead, exited his team debut on Monday night after suffering an apparent left wrist/hand injury.
Mead, who was acquired from the Washington Nationals just two days earlier, was hit on the left wrist/hand by a 95 mph fastball from Athletics starter Jack Perkins in the fourth inning. Although he remained in the game initially, he appeared to be in significant discomfort and was replaced before the bottom of the fifth inning. �

The Red Sox had not immediately announced the severity of the injury or whether Mead would require further testing. His early exit was an unfortunate start to his Boston career after the club acquired him to strengthen its infield ahead of the trade deadline. �
