The Los Angeles Lakers have enjoyed a productive NBA offseason so far. General manager Rob Pelinka not only added quality talent from outside the roster but also secured a new three-year, \$165 million extension with Luka Doncic, which includes a player option. Key acquisitions include Jake LaRavia, Deandre Ayton, and Marcus Smart. While these moves strengthen the roster, questions remain about whether they are enough to compete for a Western Conference title.
One area that could still use improvement is perimeter shooting. Surrounding Doncic and LeBron James with more shooters would help maximize floor spacing and offensive efficiency. According to ESPN, potential trade targets include Grayson Allen and Sam Hauser—both players who could be acquired without major cost if their teams are open to deals.
Hauser, who played for the Boston Celtics last season, appeared in 71 games with 19 starts. He averaged 8.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 0.9 assists while shooting 45.1% from the field and an impressive 41.6% from three-point range.
Allen, with the Phoenix Suns in 2024-25, played 64 games and made seven starts, posting averages of 10.6 points, 3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. He shot 44.8% overall and 42.6% from beyond the arc.
While there is no certainty the Lakers will pursue either player, both could provide valuable bench production, particularly as spot-up three-point specialists. Pelinka’s offseason moves have improved the roster, but if Los Angeles wants to position itself as a true championship contender, adding another reliable perimeter shooter might be the final piece.
