Indiana Fever Add Veteran Guard Odyssey Sims on Hardship Contract
The Indiana Fever announced on August 10, 2025, that they have signed veteran guard Odyssey Sims to a hardship contract. The move comes as the team continues to battle injury setbacks, with guards Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald both sidelined. The hardship exception allows the Fever to add an additional player to their roster due to these injuries.
Sims brings over a decade of WNBA experience to Indianapolis. Over her 11-year career, she has averaged 11.2 points, 3.8 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game. Her professional journey has included stints with multiple franchises: the Tulsa Shock (2014–15), Dallas Wings (2016, 2023–24), Los Angeles Sparks (2017–18, 2024–25), Minnesota Lynx (2019–20, 2022), Atlanta Dream (2021), and Connecticut Sun (2022).
Her most notable season came in 2019 while playing for the Lynx. That year, Sims earned her first selection to the WNBA All-Star Game and was named to the All-WNBA Second Team, cementing her reputation as a dynamic and dependable guard. Earlier this season, she suited up for the Sparks, starting 11 games and posting averages of 9.8 points and 3.5 assists per contest before her release.
Before turning professional, Sims had a decorated college career at Baylor University. She played a key role in helping the Lady Bears capture the 2012 NCAA National Championship. Her standout performances earned her Big 12 Player of the Year and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2014. Recognized for her talent and leadership, she was selected second overall in the 2014 WNBA Draft.
Now joining a Fever team that has been hit hard by injuries, Sims is expected to provide veteran leadership, offensive production, and playmaking ability. She will wear jersey No. 1 in her debut with Indiana.
The signing is seen as a timely addition for the Fever, who are looking to stay competitive despite their depleted backcourt. With her wealth of experience and proven track record in the league, Sims could make an immediate impact both on and off the court as Indiana navigates the rest of the season.
