Breaking: 2027 5-Star WR Ashton Stark commits to Kansas State

Kansas State has strengthened its future recruiting class with the commitment of talented Louisiana wide receiver Ashton Stark, one of the most versatile athletes in the 2027 cycle. The Lutcher High School standout announced his decision to join the Wildcats, choosing Kansas State over several notable programs, including Arkansas, Auburn, and Louisiana Tech.

Stark’s commitment gives the Wildcats another dynamic playmaker and further boosts a recruiting class that continues to grow in both talent and athleticism. Rated as a three-star prospect with an overall grade of 87, Stark is considered one of Louisiana’s top recruits and brings a unique combination of speed, versatility, and production to Manhattan.

During his junior season at Lutcher, Stark showcased his ability to impact games in a variety of ways. As a receiver, he recorded 56 catches for 806 yards while consistently creating explosive plays in the passing game. He also contributed on the ground, adding 242 rushing yards and helping his team with 15 total touchdowns. His offensive production alone made him one of the most dangerous playmakers in the state.

However, Stark’s value extends far beyond offense. On the defensive side of the ball, he demonstrated excellent instincts and ball skills, finishing the season with 37 tackles, four interceptions, and five pass breakups. His ability to contribute in multiple phases of the game has made him one of the more intriguing prospects in the South and a player capable of filling several roles at the collegiate level.

What truly separates Stark from many recruits in his class is his verified athleticism. A standout track and field competitor, he enjoyed a remarkable spring season in 2026 by capturing Louisiana 4A regional championships in three separate events. Stark claimed first place in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and long jump, further proving the elite speed and explosiveness that translate directly to the football field.

His winning performances included a time of 10.92 seconds in the 100 meters and 21.97 seconds in the 200 meters. He also posted an impressive long jump mark of nearly 24 feet. Those achievements built upon a successful sophomore track season when he finished as a regional runner-up in the long jump while continuing to improve his sprint times.

Recruiting analysts have taken notice of Stark’s impressive combination of production and athletic ability. National scouting experts describe him as an explosive playmaker capable of making an impact in multiple phases of the game. His track success confirms the speed that shows up on film, while his jumping ability highlights the explosiveness that makes him dangerous whenever the ball is in his hands.

Although he may not possess the size of a traditional outside receiver, Stark’s acceleration, quickness, and ability to create separation make him a strong fit as a slot receiver. His skill set could also make him a valuable weapon on special teams, particularly as a return specialist capable of turning routine plays into game-changing moments.

Football runs in Stark’s family as well. He is the son of former Louisiana Tech receiver Allen Stark, who played for the Bulldogs from 1999 through 2001. Growing up around the game has helped him develop a strong understanding of football and prepared him for the recruiting process.

With Stark now on board, Kansas State adds its 23rd commitment in the 2027 recruiting cycle and secures its third wide receiver pledge. He joins fellow receiver commits David Rushing and Brooklyn Maxey as the Wildcats continue building a class loaded with speed, athleticism, and big-play potential for the future.
