Why Lane Johnson deserves the farewell
Since Philadelphia selected him No. 4 overall in the 2013 NFL Draft, Johnson has been a cornerstone of the Eagles’ offensive line. He has started 168 regular-season games and 15 playoff games, earned six Pro Bowl selections and two first-team All-Pro honors, and helped Philadelphia win two Super Bowls.

His longevity is particularly impressive for an offensive lineman. Johnson has protected multiple generations of Eagles quarterbacks and remained one of the league’s premier right tackles well into his 30s.
Now, rather than focusing only on replacing him, Philadelphia has an opportunity to celebrate him.
Every home game could become a reminder of what Johnson has meant to the franchise: the dominant blocks, the playoff battles, the Super Bowl victories and the leadership inside the locker room.
Johnson has also been part of the Eagles’ unique team culture away from football, including the Philly Specials alongside Jason Kelce and Jordan Mailata.
