Collin Klein and the Kansas State Wildcats have secured an important addition for the future after landing their first quarterback commitment in the 2027 recruiting class. On Tuesday, talented signal-caller Cameron Kruse announced that he plans to continue his football career in Manhattan and play under Klein at Kansas State.
Kruse currently stars for Page High School in Franklin, Tennessee, where he has developed into one of the more promising young quarterbacks in the region. Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing approximately 195 pounds, he brings a solid combination of size, athleticism, and passing ability that made him an appealing target for the Wildcats’ coaching staff. Even though he now plays in Tennessee, Kruse has roots in Kansas, making his commitment to K-State a meaningful connection for both the player and the program.
Kansas State intensified its pursuit of Kruse after missing out on another highly regarded quarterback prospect in the 2027 class, Jake Nawrot, who recently pledged to the Kentucky Wildcats. Rather than slowing down on the recruiting trail, Klein and his staff quickly shifted their attention toward Kruse, and their efforts ultimately paid off with a commitment.
Although Kruse has not yet received an official star ranking from the major recruiting services, his production on the field suggests he has the tools to become a standout prospect before his senior season concludes. During his junior campaign at Page High School, Kruse delivered impressive numbers through the air and on the ground. He passed for 2,264 yards and threw 35 touchdown passes, showing an ability to lead an explosive offense and consistently make big plays. In addition to his passing success, he also demonstrated mobility and versatility as a runner, rushing for 376 yards and six touchdowns.
Those statistics highlight the type of dual-threat quarterback Kansas State is adding to its future roster. Kruse’s ability to extend plays, create opportunities with his legs, and still remain productive as a passer likely made him especially attractive to Klein and the Wildcats. His skill set appears to fit well with the offensive style Kansas State has often utilized successfully in recent years.
Kruse attracted attention from several other programs before making his final decision. Schools such as Miami Hurricanes, Northwestern Wildcats, West Virginia Mountaineers, and Memphis Tigers all showed interest in the quarterback during his recruitment. Despite having multiple options available, Kruse ultimately decided that Kansas State was the best fit for his future both on and off the field.
For Klein, securing an early quarterback commitment in the 2027 cycle is an important step as he continues building the Wildcats’ recruiting foundation. Quarterbacks often become central figures in recruiting classes, helping attract additional talent to a program. Landing Kruse early could provide momentum for Kansas State as the Wildcats continue pursuing more prospects in the coming months.
Kruse still has another high school season ahead of him before arriving in Manhattan, and there is plenty of time for his recruitment profile to rise nationally. If he continues producing at a high level during his senior year, recruiting analysts could begin viewing him as one of the more underrated quarterbacks in the class. Regardless of rankings, Kansas State clearly believes it has found a promising future leader for its offense.
