Breaking News: Detroit Pistons announce the signing of another fans favorite player after losing to Knicks

Detroit Pistons sign Chimezie Metu to 10-day contract

Suns Player Preview: Chimezie Metu must take advantage of his minutes to earn playing time - Bright Side Of The Sun

The Detroit Pistons have signed F/C Chimezie Metu to a 10-day contract. Metu, 6-9, 225, has appeared in 226 NBA games over five seasons. In that time, he has averaged 5.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 0.7 assists, and 0.4 blocks in 12.8 minutes of play.

Why it Matters

To be sure, Metu is unlikely to make much of an impact on a Pistons club that is one of the poorest in the NBA this season. In fact, it is possible that he does not see any action at all. That being said, having a veteran like Metu provides some depth for the Pistons, particularly in the center and forward positions.

Bottom Line

While Chimezie Metu may not be a game changer for the failing Detroit Pistons, his experience and versatility as a forward/center add depth to the team’s roster. His deal is a deliberate move to strengthen the Pistons’ lineup, particularly in the frontcourt, as they face a difficult season.
