SAD NEWS: The Tennessee Titans have been dealt a significant blow just days ahead of their 2025 NFL season opener, as rookie quarterback Cam Ward has reportedly suffered an injury during a team scrimmage

The Tennessee Titans have been dealt a significant blow just days ahead of their 2025 NFL season opener, as rookie quarterback Cam Ward has reportedly suffered an injury during a team scrimmage on Thursday. Ward, who was expected to play a prominent role in the Titans’ new-look offense, is now questionable for Sunday’s highly anticipated opening day matchup.

Ward, a dynamic dual-threat quarterback out of Washington State, was taken in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft and had impressed throughout training camp and preseason. His mobility, arm strength, and poise under pressure had positioned him as a potential starter or, at the very least, a key contributor in sub-packages and special offensive sets designed to utilize his athleticism.

According to team sources, the injury occurred during a non-contact drill in which Ward rolled out of the pocket and planted awkwardly on his right leg. Trainers immediately attended to him, and while he was able to walk off the field under his own power, the team has since indicated that he is undergoing further evaluation for what’s being described as a “lower-body injury.”

The timing of the injury is especially frustrating for the Titans, who were expected to lean on Ward to add an unpredictable element to their offense. Head coach Brian Callahan had hinted at the possibility of using both quarterbacks — including veteran starter Will Levis — in creative ways to keep defenses off balance. Ward’s injury could now force a more conservative approach.

If Ward is unable to suit up for Week 1, backup quarterback Malik Willis may see an expanded role behind Levis. The team has yet to announce an official decision, but a more detailed injury report is expected Friday.

Ward’s status will be closely monitored throughout the weekend, as Titans fans and coaches alike hope the promising young signal-caller can return to action sooner rather than later.
