He spent his high school career largely flying under the radar, in part because he did not participate in the high-profile AAU circuit, which is often where college prospects gain visibility. However, as a senior at Ardrey Kell High School, Freeman seized his moment. He averaged over 24 points per game and shattered the school’s single-game scoring record. His breakout season not only brought attention from college programs but also earned him an offer from Florida State before ultimately choosing Virginia Tech.
