Michigan’s relentless pursuit appears to be paying off—not only in performance evaluations but in ongoing communication with Finney’s family. Finney’s father, Havon Finney Sr., shared insights into the family’s continued appreciation for Michigan. “He loves Ann Arbor. He loves Michigan. He loves coach Morgan,” he said in an interview with The Wolverine. The elder Finney also noted that although the official commitment is to LSU, their conversations with Michigan have remained positive and frequent.
“We were realistically down to LSU, Michigan, and Ohio State,” Finney Sr. added. “My wife even says now, ‘Dang, Michigan would have been great.’” These sentiments point to the strong bond that remains between Finney’s family and the Michigan coaching staff.
Coach Morgan has reportedly maintained regular contact, texting Finney Sr. about once a week. During the interview, Morgan’s name even appeared on Finney Sr.’s phone, underlining how persistent and engaged the Wolverines have been in their efforts.
Michigan is working to secure an official visit from Finney sometime this fall. If that happens, recruiting experts say the likelihood of a flip becomes more than just speculation—it transforms into a serious possibility. Standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds, Finney is the No. 60 overall prospect nationally, with elite ball skills and lockdown coverage ability.
