Penn State Adds 4-Star Wide Receiver Davion Brown to 2026 Recruiting Class
Penn State continues to build momentum on the recruiting trail, landing a major addition to its 2026 class with the commitment of four-star wide receiver Davion Brown. The standout from Richmond, Virginia, announced his decision on social media Monday, giving the Nittany Lions one of the top prospects in the state.
Brown, who goes by the nickname “Fat Rat,” is ranked as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite and is considered the sixth-best player in Virginia. Nationally, he is ranked among the top 20 receivers and inside the top 150 overall recruits. Within Penn State’s 2026 class, he stands as the third-highest ranked recruit.
At 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, Brown showcased his playmaking skills as a sophomore at Trinity Episcopal School, catching 42 passes for 946 yards. His impressive season earned him a spot on the Richmond Dispatch’s All-Metro Football Team. He also received honorable mention in basketball, underlining his athletic versatility.
Brown’s commitment came after an unofficial visit to Penn State in late April. He has also scheduled an official visit to the campus on June 6. Initially, Brown had plans to take official visits to Georgia, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, and Duke. In addition to those schools, he has made unofficial visits to Michigan, Georgia, and Virginia Tech and holds offers from several national programs, including Tennessee, USC, and Auburn.
Recruiting services differ slightly on Brown’s rankings. On3 lists him as a three-star, while Rivals and ESPN rate him as a four-star prospect. ESPN ranks him as the No. 71 overall player nationally and the No. 2 recruit in Virginia.
Brown is the 17th commitment in Penn State’s 2026 recruiting class, which has experienced rapid growth in recent months. Over half of the class has committed since late March, and Brown is the fourth player to pledge in May alone. Penn State’s 2026 class now ranks fourth in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite and sits third in the Big Ten, trailing only USC and Ohio State. Brown also becomes the 10th four-star recruit in what is shaping up to be one of James Franklin’s strongest classes to date.
