Eagles Add Rookie Wide Receiver Ife Adeyi During Final OTAs
As the Philadelphia Eagles wrap up their organized team activities (OTAs) this week, they’ve made one more move to bolster their roster by signing a rookie wide receiver. With the offseason program coming to a close on Thursday, the defending Super Bowl champions are finalizing their evaluations and gaining a clearer picture of their 2025 roster. Yet, even this late into OTAs, head coach Nick Sirianni and his staff aren’t done making additions.
On Wednesday, Jonathan Comeaux of NFL Trade Rumors reported that the Eagles signed undrafted rookie wide receiver Ife Adeyi. The former Sam Houston State standout had previously tried out for the Washington Commanders last month but now joins Philadelphia for a shot at making the final 53-man roster.
Despite not receiving an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine, Adeyi showed off impressive athleticism during Sam Houston State’s pro day. His performance reportedly would have placed him among the top performers at his position had he been at the combine.
Adeyi brings versatility and speed to the Eagles’ wide receiver room. Over the past two seasons, he recorded 37 receptions for 345 yards, rushed for 76 yards on nine carries, and found the end zone twice. Additionally, he contributed on special teams, averaging 6.3 yards per return on 10 punt returns—an asset that could help him carve out a role on the Eagles’ roster.
With established stars like A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and newly acquired Jahan Dotson locked in as the Eagles’ top three receivers, competition for the remaining wideout spots remains wide open. Adeyi’s blend of speed and special teams ability gives him a realistic chance to push for one of the WR4 to WR6 slots if he can impress throughout minicamp and training camp.
As Philadelphia fine-tunes its roster ahead of the 2025 season, Adeyi is a name to watch. His underdog story and versatile skill set could make him a surprise contributor if he continues to shine in practice. Eagles fans should keep an eye on the rookie as he takes his first steps into the NFL.
