Breaking: Brentford eye manager of Premier League club as potential Thomas Frank replacement

Brentford may look to a fellow Premier League club for their next manager, as Thomas Frank appears set to leave for Tottenham. According to talkSPORT, the two clubs have reached an agreement that will see the Danish coach take over at Spurs, ending Frank’s long-standing eight-and-a-half-year tenure with the Bees.

With Frank’s departure looming, Brentford has started searching for his successor. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the club has created a shortlist of three potential candidates. One name on their radar is Burnley manager Scott Parker. However, Romano notes that Parker is content at Burnley, and any discussions with Brentford are still in the very early stages.

Another name believed to be under consideration is Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna, as talkSPORT understands the Bees are closely monitoring him.

A possible appointment of Parker would certainly generate mixed reactions among Brentford supporters, primarily due to his deep ties with their west London rivals, Fulham. Parker played over 120 matches for Fulham and later managed the club for 105 games. Notably, he led Fulham to a 2-1 victory over Brentford in the 2019/20 Championship play-off final.

Despite his controversial Fulham past, Parker has demonstrated his managerial quality in the Championship. He has led three different clubs to promotion, including Bournemouth in 2021/22 and Burnley in the 2024/25 season. With Burnley, Parker guided the team to a second-place finish—missing out on the title only due to goal difference behind Leeds. Defensively, Burnley excelled, conceding just 16 goals over the 46-game campaign, a record unmatched by any team other than Leeds, who let in 30.

However, Parker’s track record in the Premier League raises questions. Fulham were relegated under his leadership in the 2020/21 season, spending almost the entire campaign in the bottom three. His time at Bournemouth also ended poorly, as he was dismissed after just four Premier League matches in 2022/23, including a crushing 9-0 loss to Liverpool. Parker publicly criticized the club’s transfer spending, but his successor, Gary O’Neil, later secured safety for the Cherries.

Parker’s brief stint at Club Brugge in Belgium also failed to impress, lasting only 12 games with just two victories before he was dismissed.

Now back in the Premier League with Burnley, Parker faces the daunting task of avoiding the same fate that has recently befallen other promoted teams—immediate relegation.
