“Who Is That?” – Mahomes Stuns NFL World With Unexpected Appearance Change

The Kansas City Chiefs kicked off their organized team activities in late May with star quarterback Patrick Mahomes impressed by the team’s wide receiver corps – something that was lacking during the 2024 season after the injury to Rashee Rice.

“We’re fast,” Mahomes said of the wide receivers. “I think that’s probably the thing that stands out the most. “We have guys that can roll. Our job is to test the defenses down the field and we have to get back to doing that if we want to open up other guys underneath. Coach Reid has challenged me this offseason to push the ball down the field, let guys have chances to make plays and then once we get that back to where we want to be in our standard that we believe we should have, then we can come back to the underneath stuff.”

Mahomes has led the Chiefs to the Super Bowl in five of the past six seasons – winning three titles. As the star quarterback heads into Year 9 it was time for a new headshot.

On June 18, the Chiefs posted a photo of the quarterback who showed off his new haircut that caught the attention of fans.

“fans are loving the clean look,” one person said.

“Short haired Mahomes with a clean shape up and a well defined hairline?? Yeah this is your 2025 NFL MVP,” joked another.

“I’m very into his new cut,” added a third.

Earlier this offseason Mahomes explained the new haircut.

“I’ve wanted to do it for a while, but it was kind of one of those superstitions, I kept winning the Super Bowl, which is a good thing, but I didn’t want to cut the hair while I was doing it,” he said.

“I told everybody during the season that win or lose, if we win three in a row or if we lose, I’m getting a haircut, like that’s enough. I’m very excited. I’ve looked at some videos from last year and I can’t believe all you guys let me keep that nappy hair for so long, like I look way better now with the short hair, so I’ll be keeping this going forward.”

Mahomes and the Chiefs kick off the 2025 season against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 5.
