Report: Spurs interested to sign another top experience free agent guard after they were blown away by the Heat

Spurs Interested in Free Agent Guard Ryan Rollins

The San Antonio Spurs are reportedly eyeing free agent guard Ryan Rollins as a potential addition to their young and evolving roster.

According to league sources, the Spurs have expressed interest in bringing in the 22-year-old guard, who was recently waived and is now exploring his options on the open market. Rollins, a second-round pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, has shown flashes of promise during his limited NBA action, and San Antonio may view him as a low-risk, high-upside signing that fits their long-term vision.

Known for his smooth scoring ability and solid ball-handling, Rollins has yet to establish himself in the league due to injuries and limited opportunities. However, during his time in the G League, he displayed notable potential as a shot creator and secondary playmaker  qualities the Spurs could use as they continue to build around their young core, including franchise centerpiece Victor Wembanyama.

With the Spurs entering a new phase of development, the front office appears committed to exploring all avenues to bolster depth and competition, especially in the backcourt. Rollins could provide a valuable spark off the bench and benefit from San Antonio’s renowned player development system under head coach Gregg Popovich.

While no official offer has been made, the reported interest signals that the Spurs are keeping close tabs on available young talent who may thrive in a more stable environment. If signed, Rollins would have a fresh opportunity to prove he belongs in the NBA  this time, with a franchise that has a strong track record of nurturing overlooked talent into key contributors.
