Novak Djokovic Sees Wimbledon as His ‘Best Chance’ of Beating ‘Favourites’ Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz to Clinch Grand Slam Record
Novak Djokovic has identified Wimbledon as his most promising opportunity to add to his legendary legacy, targeting what would be a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title. The Serbian superstar, who already holds the men’s record for major championships, believes the grass courts of SW19 give him his “best chance” to overcome current tour leaders Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
Despite dealing with injury setbacks and a reduced schedule in 2025, the 37-year-old remains confident in his ability to compete at the highest level, especially on the surface where he has dominated for more than a decade. With seven Wimbledon titles already to his name, Djokovic is just one shy of tying Roger Federer’s all-time record at the All England Club.
Speaking ahead of a potential blockbuster showdown with either Alcaraz or Sinner, Djokovic admitted he no longer sees himself as the favorite but emphasized his confidence on grass.
> “I don’t think I’m the favorite,” Djokovic said. “I think Sinner and Alcaraz are the two best players in the world right now. But if there’s a place where I can still beat them, it’s probably here.”
Alcaraz and Sinner have dominated recent Grand Slams, with Alcaraz defeating Djokovic in the 2023 Wimbledon final and Sinner breaking through with consistent top-tier performances. Yet Djokovic remains unfazed. He cited Wimbledon’s unique conditions, his experience, and his high-level return game as factors that still give him an edge.
The Serbian is also motivated by his viewing of the recent **French Open final**, where Alcaraz and Sinner clashed in one of the most memorable matches in recent history. Djokovic said the spectacle reignited his competitive fire.
> “Watching that final was inspiring. It reminded me why I still play — to be part of those incredible moments. I still believe I belong at the top.”
Now into the latter stages of the tournament, Djokovic has already posted dominant performances, showing little rust despite limited court time this season. With a possible semi-final encounter with Sinner looming and a potential final clash with Alcaraz, fans are anticipating a thrilling conclusion to the Championships.
A Wimbledon title this year wouldn’t just extend Djokovic’s Grand Slam tally — it would also reaffirm his place in an evolving era where the younger generation is rapidly ascending. For now, though, the Serbian icon remains firmly in the mix, eyes set on history once again.
