Portsmouth manager John Mousinho has offered a positive update as the club edges nearer to securing a new midfield signing ahead of the upcoming season.
Speaking in a recent interview, Mousinho confirmed that the club is in advanced negotiations with a target and is confident a deal could be finalized soon. The Pompey boss emphasized the importance of strengthening the squad in the middle of the park and reassured supporters that the club is working tirelessly behind the scenes.
“We are close,” Mousinho revealed. “There’s been a lot of work going on over the past few weeks, and we’re hopeful that everything will come together shortly. We’ve identified a midfielder who we believe can add real quality and depth to the team.”
Portsmouth, who earned promotion back to the Championship last season, are eager to bolster their squad as they prepare for a highly competitive campaign.
