Newcastle United are reportedly monitoring the situation of French forward Hugo Ekitike, who spent last season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt from Paris Saint-Germain, with the German club’s valuation for a permanent transfer now becoming clear.
According to sources close to the situation, Frankfurt are open to selling Ekitike this summer, but only at the right price. The Bundesliga side is believed to be asking for a fee in the region of €25–30 million, a figure that has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs —
with Newcastle emerging as a potential suitor.
Ekitike, 22, is viewed by many as a promising attacking talent with a high ceiling. Though his stint at PSG was underwhelming due to limited opportunities, his loan spell in Germany offered glimpses of the explosive forward who once lit up Ligue 1 with Stade de Reims. In his limited minutes with Frankfurt last season, Ekitike managed to contribute with goals, pace, and positional flexibility, often playing across the front three.
Newcastle, under Eddie Howe, are reportedly in the market for attacking reinforcements as they prepare for another demanding campaign possibly including European football. With Callum Wilson’s injury history and Alexander Isak’s growing transfer interest from top clubs, securing depth in the attacking department has become a priority for the Magpies.
The club’s scouting department has been closely tracking Ekitike since his days in Ligue 1, and a deal could make sense if Frankfurt are willing to negotiate closer to the lower end of their valuation.
However, competition for the player is expected to be fierce. Clubs in France, Italy, and Spain have also inquired about Ekitike’s availability, making Newcastle’s interest part of what could soon become a summer bidding war.
If the Magpies move decisively, they may just land one of Europe’s most intriguing young forwards but they’ll need to act fast.
