RAAL La Louvière eye loan move for Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru

Belgian side RAAL La Louvière are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru from Anderlecht, according to HLN. The move could provide the Black Stars international with a much-needed opportunity to return to regular competitive action after a prolonged spell on the fringes.

Ashimeru has found himself surplus to requirements at Anderlecht and has not featured for the club this season. In order to stay match-fit, the midfielder has been training on his own while his future remains uncertain. RAAL La Louvière are said to be interested in bringing him in on a loan deal that would run until the end of the current campaign, offering him a fresh start and consistent minutes on the pitch.

The 27-year-old joined Anderlecht in January 2021, arriving with expectations of filling the void left by Albert Sambi Lokonga. Although Ashimeru showed flashes of quality during his time at the club, his progress was frequently disrupted by injuries and a lack of consistency. As a result, he struggled to secure a permanent place in the starting lineup over the past few seasons.

Despite those challenges, Ashimeru has still accumulated significant experience with Anderlecht, making a total of 129 appearances and scoring nine goals across all competitions. His most productive period came during the 2022/23 season, when he featured in 42 matches, contributing three goals and three assists. That campaign highlighted his ability to influence games when fully fit and in rhythm.

However, with Anderlecht now keen to move him on, Ashimeru has been left without competitive action this term. A potential switch to RAAL La Louvière could therefore be mutually beneficial, giving the midfielder a platform to rediscover his form while strengthening RAAL’s squad for the remainder of the season.

It remains unclear whether Ashimeru will agree to the proposed move, but the opportunity to play regularly again could be an appealing factor. A successful loan spell may also help him attract interest from other clubs ahead of the summer transfer window, potentially revitalizing his career after a difficult period.
